Cockfighting

This activity just took place nearby where I captured the little girl enjoyed bathing on the raod under the sun. I'm always amazed by how the locals enjoy their life, everything seems so nature, so easy & so simple to them.

Just a tiny space along the street, they can gather impressive crowds for any kinda activities - playing badminton, cockfighting, kicking shuttlecock, gambling or simply sitting there chit chating... while I was worried they might be knock down by the passing cars... >__<

This cockfighting is actually very ruthless. There're bloodstain on the road while I was taking the pictures, therefore I didn't stay till the end, & I can't tell you which one won. I snapped couple of them, then I quickly jump up the toktok & ran away. Just couldn't bear to see the rest...

good action shot, snake, you could quicken your ISO to freeze the scene, but by allowing the motion, you give the feeling of the quick motion. The view of the little girls face also tells her concern. Good job on cropping down to the subject and letting your background speak for itself. croc

Well done Ariel. Looks like the one on top is going for the kill! I've also seen cockfighting where the owners put sharp metal talons on their legs so that when they strike each other as you see here, it impales or even kills the other. Big game in many Asian and even Spanish cultures. Keep up the good work. -Jon

Good shot Ariel. It reminds me of the cockfights in the Philippines many years ago. Your choice of the people in the b/g adds to the story of the photo. I think you know my style, I would have tried to catch the fowl largely surrounded by a b/g of the ground itself. That's me and it wouldn't have told the same story. A matter of preference I think, hence the subjectiveness of photography. Great catch Ariel. - Scooter -

I can appreciate the action shot, and I know it goes on but I am not too keen on seeing any animal fights...It does capture another part of this wide world...good capture..glad you didn't stay til the end.

Ah--reminds me of my days in Thailand--remember those days well! I agree---a very quiet lifestyle for most citizens. Great action shot--I can't decide if I like the blurred action or not---great shot anyway! I like the expression on the childs face--would like to see more expressions. Thanks for sharing your work---it's like taking a trip! Randy

Ariel this shot is a hard one for me. I know that this is just part of their lifestyle, but it is still distrubing to others that it is not part of their lifestyle. You do have a excellent action shot. Keep opening our eyes to the world even if it makes us uncomfortable. Fred

You have great clarity here. This does tell the story of a relaxed way of life where anything goes. You have great color and focus. You've captured a good expression on the face of that little guy. He looks a little worried. I'm afraid this is not something I'm comfortable with. I don't like to say any creature made to fight. I'd probably be trying to stop it. Good shot though. Thank you for sharing. Dianne
