Practice makes Perfect???!!!

At Shooting Range, a very popular place where attracts many visitors to test their "skills". $30 for 30bullets on AK47, $12 for 10bullets on a handgun. There're machine guns available too.

The place simply making me sick, I hate the noise, I hate the smells, & most of all -- After practising on the "paper target", there's another corner for you to test your "skills" on those flying poor creatures... At the end, you'll be given your "results" as a token to bring home. x__x

Oooo Scary. I'm not a gun lover, but everyone has a right to their own tastes. Better a gun range than a crowded street or school. Sorry. Picture is good. Clear focus, nice detail and dof. You can just make out the target at the end. Good job.

This is a very strong capture Ariel. I do like the subject, and all techs are great, but it is a little disturbing. Good work...

Very strong, has a lot of suggestions. This shot had a lot of flexibility also which would suggest different stories. It's a very good b&w. Very good detail on the weapon. Very creative. Without your story, it reminded me of a guard at the end of a tunnel, waiting... Good job. - Scooter -

Thanks for explaining this one. This could very well have been a WWII foxhole, a submachine gunners nest, an ambush location, terrorist training camp... etc. Strong image, great composition, as it kept me guessing what was at the end of the firing range. Well done.

A lovely idea for a photo, very unique that's for sure, nice choice for a B&W and almost too bad those lights are so strong as they do make for hot spots I find here. I like your angle and almost wished I could see the target a little better but at the same time I do realise it's very far and probably not possible to do in this frame. Last thing, I think we would of loved to see more of the gun since we can't see the target, maybe by taking a stride back....
Cheers

Ariel, Thank you for this picture. It takes me back to Phnom Penh and all the great times I have had in and around there! I have video from that room (if this is a place just outside the capital). I made my wife fire some weapons so she would get a feel for them and understand them better. I posted a video of her in that room:

I hope that link works. Your choice of color and DOF is great. You have a great eye and mind for taking photos and I am happy to be in this group with you! - Robert

A very strong photo you got here. It makes you think, about the story behind it, the person who's gonna use it (or already did), the 'object' on target...
Great choice of b&w, excellent focusing which shows the detail, i love the the way you put the holder's angle at the corner. The bright light-spots give a dramatic effect here.
Thank you very much for sharing.

Nice job snake, adding the gun which clarifies the photograph and its intentions. Were you shooting the gun? The target is straight ahead not the ceiling, just kidding :) croc

Great shot Ariel. I really like the subject matter firstly...makes a person really think about guns, using guns, why we use guns....The composition of the guns is spot on, and i like how you can see ot the end of the range.

At first i thought it was a cameral on tripod LOL
Then i read the story. I'm with you on "shoot"out the wrong targets. That's just wrong, i wouldn't be there if i saw this practise.
Now for the shot. Like the clearity of a gun, i would clone out that bright spot on the left leg, just to get it all in focus. The rest plays nicely, you can see the target, too bad for so many lights which is a little distructing.
Nice capture! Keep snaping!

Strong photograph, disturbing message. Shooting paper targets, yes, flying animals, no. Great focus on the gun. Works well in b/w. Good job. BJ
