Purple-blue Lotus

I've seen red pink lotus in M'sia. This is the first time seeing some purple-blue lotus. But the TokTok driver told me it's very common in their country. :p

Beautiful flowers. Try framing this picture so that it is tall and narrow, just capturing the flower head and all the floating leaves in front and behind. I think it would add to the overall elegance, but that's just a personal view.

Thanks, Hal.
What framing software would you reckon? The editing software I'm using is Picasa2, which is free from google.com, but I don't have software for working on the frame. Any recommendation?
I think your idea is great. I would try to see how I can do with Picasa2. Shall keep you posted with the outcome. Thanks again. ^__^

I would like to have seen you zoom in closer on the flower with more DOF to make them stand out from the background a little more. Michelle

Very pretty flowers. Have tried waterlillies and have found that these shots are not the easiest thing to manage due to the water being in the way and not always being able to maneuvor into the right position to get that comp right. I think this one may have been more appealing in a horizontal crop due to the spread and lay of the flowers and buds, this would also have allowed you to crop a little closer to the flowers as well to bring them out more. Techs look spot on, colour could use a bit of tweeking to make it really pop. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely photo, Looks like spring in the neck of the woods, surely not our case here. I do agree witht the previous review about horizontal plan which would of allowed you to get closer and still keep the leafs in the water just sitting there. A tad distracting with the weeds in the FG but show as blurry lines. Nice clarity on the flowers, nice DOF, nice colors, well done

First, I must say this is an absolutely beautiful snap. It is quite involved and there are a lot of things going on, from the floating discs of the leaves to the jut of the bloom shafts out of the water against the reflection. The images compete for the attention yet it is still all pleasing. Quite the complex photo. You did well with it. - Scooter -

I like this much. The composition is strong and appealing, the portrait layout works for me as you have isolated the lotus and its reflection. This will also work in a horizontal lay if you wanted to include more of the pond, but in this case, this is perfect. Great eye for color, the blues simply stand out from the water and greens.
Shallow DOF works well. Very nice Ariel.

Great capture, framing and focus. I too would of played with it in an editing program, just to make the colors just off the page. I think it works either horz or vert....great eye.

That toktok driver is bringing you places, lol. Nice composition of the flowers pointed towards teh sky. The different textures of the lily pads and water are pleasing to see. The soft focus xtras are difficult to notice in the viewfinger until you get to see the photo larger. Nice job, croc
